Why wait until Friday to be happy?

“Happy Friday everyone!”

Oh that lovely catch phrase that’s heralded around the office at the end of the week. And it’s not saying that the other days of the week are not happy, but Friday beautiful Friday is the promise of the weekend – gin drinking, catching up with friends, hotcakes for breakfast, dinners and sleep-ins. TGIF!

But why store up all of your happiness for the weekend? Why not be happy every day?

I’ve been thinking about what makes me happy this week. I found an old list that I had written in a journal called Start Where You Are. The exercise was to list five things that always and immediately bring a smile to your face. I wrote:

  • Bunnies
  • Puppies
  • Kate Spade
  • Red patent leather shoes
  • Hello Kitty

As I read through the list I felt immediately lifted. And then I thought, why limit it to five things? So this week I thought of 10 things that always and immediately bring a smile to my face.

When I’m down or I’m desperately wishing for the end of week, I think of them and go to my happy place and remember to enjoy this day and this moment.
